Mission does not always have to be money distributed to worthy institutions or to individuals outside our church family.  Two goals we have this year is to work with the Youth Director in organizing a teen group to become members of the Unit and to stay in touch with members who are not physically able to attend Unit meetings so as to make them feel they are still a part of our Unit.  Mission involves doing for others and UMW members work hard each year to be able to donate monetarily to entities who need our help.  We work hard each year to educate ourselves in different arenas of mission through attending the Annual Day at the Legislature, Church Women United World Peace Day, annual School of Missions at Hendrix College in late July and early August, participation in an annual mission study and educational programs at our quarterly Unit meetings, and reading of the UMW monthly Response magazine and books from the Reading Program on social action, mission in education, spiritual growth and nurturing for community.

When the UMW is asked to participate in an activity, we are honored to be asked and are willing, ready and able to do what we can.  If you are not presently a member of our Unit and would like to visit with someone about UMW or visit a Circle meeting, please contact any of the following 2008 UMW officers:

President – Pat Jones
Vice President – Alison Harris
Secretary – Linda Kenner
Treasurer – Lori Hagen
Program Resources – Betty Goodson
Nominating Committee Chair – Millie Turnbow
