Then at 11 am was a combined service in the sanctuary. During this service, our Chancel Choir & Orchestra presented 2015's Easter Cantata, “Behold the Lamb” by Lloyd Larson.
To finish our celebration, a children’s Easter egg hunt took place following our worship service for ages toddler - 5th grade.

VBS 2014: Weird Animals
183 children sang and danced and learned about Jesus' love at the Weird Animals VBS in July.  Even when you are left out, even when you are different, even when you don't understand, even when you do wrong, even when you are afraid...JESUS LOVES YOU!

On Sunday, May 5th, during the 11 o’clock Sanctuary Service, NLR FUMC honored our graduating high school seniors.  The hallways were lined with tables, one for each graduate where families were able to celebrate their graduate’s accomplishments.
Many memorable moments were made that day.  The graduates recessed into service in their caps and gowns and helped lead the worship service.  The graduates then received  special messages from Pastor Davis and Rev. Steven Carr, a special video telling each graduate’s story from childhood to adulthood, and prayers and blessings over their next steps and future plans.
We wish our Senior Class of 2013 the very best in their future endeavors!
Our 2013 Seniors include:  Wesley Bourgoin, Stephanie Crawford, Grant DePoyster, Katie Drake, Bailey Martin, Joey Pinney, Spencer Rogers, Jake Smothers, Rachel Toland, and James Word.

Homecoming Picnic & Celebration 2013

Homecoming picnic & celebration
brings the nlr fumc family together

Our Homecoming Picnic and Celebration took place on Sunday, April 14th.  Festivities started at 10 am with a Combined Worship Service in the Sanctuary.  Director of Music Ministries, Kurt Kennedy, and Steven Carr worked together to design the service to include parts from both the WayPoint worship service and the Sanctuary worship service.
Immediately following the Combined Worship Service was the potluck picnic!  Hamburgers and hot dogs were provided by  NLR FUMC while yummy side dishes and delicious desserts brought by members of our congregation filled up the other tables. The fun didn’t end with the meal!  Children were entertained by face paintings, bracelet crafts, the playground and a bounce house!  Adults young and old spent time in fellowship with one another playing horseshoes, bag-o, dominoes and cards.
When planning for an outdoor event in April, it’s no secret that you’re always taking a risk.  You’ve heard the saying, “April showers bring May flowers”… But on Sunday, April 14th, the weather was PERFECT for our picnic!  The sun was out, it was neither too hot nor too cold, and a light breeze helped keep everyone comfortable.
“What a wonderful day it was for our Homecoming Picnic and Celebration!,” says Senior Pastor, Davis Thompson.  “The worship, the meal, the weather, the games... WOW!”

Easter Sunday 2013

Palm Sunday / Easter Cantata '13

Chancel choir presents musical drama “Upon This Rock”

After hours of hard work and preparation, NLR FUMC’s Chancel Choir performed their 2013 Easter Cantata  on Palm Sunday, March 24th, in the sanctuary worship service.  “Upon This Rock” is a musical drama based on the  thoughts and dialogue of the Apostle Peter .
The service featured Chis Bradley as Peter, the Chancel Choir and the Chancel Orchestra.  This upbeat musical version of Peter's story calls us forth to follow Jesus with a timely  and moving message.   Soloists included Todd Tucker, Sara Cooke, Kurt Kennedy, Brent Higdem, Larry Walton, Mary Hoey, Andy Miller and Prisca Selhorst.
The Chancel Choir and Chancel Orchestra’s incredible performance helped to set the mood for Holy Week and what this time of year is all about.

Chili Cookoff '13

On Wednesday, Jan. 30th, the Fellowship Hall was filled with 20+ crock pots of chili; some for those who prefer the traditional taste of chili, some for those who like their chili with a little “kick”, and others for those who like their chili to be on the different side.  As the chilies were tasted and judged, the other 200+ in attendance waited patiently to find their favorite chili to fill their bowls with.  There was also an array of cornbread choices, lots of extras to top off that perfect bowl of chili, and yummy homemade desserts.

“What a wonderful time we had at the family chili cookoff,” says Steven Carr, Minister of Youth and Families.   “I would like to say thank you to all of you who brought chili, cheese, and all the different ingredients to make it a successful time.”
Prizes were awarded for Best in Taste and Originality.  Carolyn Lasseigne received a trophy and a certificate for a small nugget tray from Chic-fil-A for her original “Woman Made White Chili”.  Jake and Cooper West received a trophy and a certificate for one dozen chocolate chunk cookies for their tasty “Hat Rack Chili.”
